How To Go From Struggling Writer ➡️ Million Dollar Creator
MDCs all do this
A little over a week ago I was at the Taylor Swift Eras concert in Lisbon.
If you’ve followed my IG stories over the last year you know I’m a pretty big Swiftie.
I respect anyone with talent and dedication to their craft. She has both of those, more than anyone.
Taylor is the first person to become a billionaire from music alone. She’s one of the top Rainmakers in the world. A talented writer who writes most of her own music.
But she didn’t hit it big until she started performing. And she reached a whole new stratosphere with her Eras tour.
I don’t think she’s the best singer, but she knows how to write hits and put on a show unlike anyone else. Her multi-generational appeal, awards, and staying power is a testament to that.
People were literally sobbing and screaming every word to every song for 3.5 hours. Never seen anything like it. It was a true spectacle.
Which brings me to what I believe separates the million dollar creators from the struggling writers…
They become the Taylor Swift of their market.
MDCs are great writers. But they don’t limit themselves to writing alone.
They get on camera, speak, and put on a show.
Short form videos, long form videos, podcast interviews, chatting with their “fans”, live in-person and virtual events, etc.
Look at all the top writers who became MDCs:
Dan Koe
Justin Welsh
Sahil Bloom
Andrew Tate
Sam Parr / Shaan Puri
What do they all have in common?
They embrace speaking and getting on camera.
And they dominate the social platforms as a result.
IMO we’ve reached a point where writing alone is not enough. Video has become a crucial part of the creator stack. And it’s what will separate the broke writers from the MDCs.
So, what should you do with this info?
You can do nothing, but you’ll have an increasingly difficult time standing out.
Or you can get on camera and start speaking more. Add video content to your stack and stay with it. It’s the key to becoming a MDC in the new world.
